Multi-channel plates (MCPs) are used to multiply electrons from ionization. They are made by Photonis and NEG-cated at CERN to minimize the electron production.

The NEG-coating is done in TE-VSC-SCC.

Electron generation plates (EGPs) are modified MCPs which feature spontaneous electron emission. They are used as a (cold) electron reference source for calibration.
