Phosphor

Phosphor screen is used to convert electron signal to light.

The Phosphor screen is deposited on the ITO layer directly on the prism.

In SPS, before 2004 a CdS scintillator was tested, which is very fast (decay time less than 1 ns) but gives low light yield.

It was changed to P46 (Y3Al5O12:Ce) to increase sensitivity, however the decay time is about 300 ns (from 100% to 10%, afterglowe reaches 90 us).
